Why you need to test for Covid Antibodies:

After a microorganism such as a virus has been introduced to your body. Causing an infection, the body starts to fight back by producing neutralising proteins called antibodies in your blood. Detection of these antibodies using serology laboratory techniques can tell us a lot about the type of infection you have or had in the past.

Vaccination

is a technique that introduces a substance to the body that has a lot of similarities to an infectious organism without actually being dangerous with the aim of forcing the body to produce protective antibodies.

How do you know if the vaccine has worked? Have you had Covid-19 before? Are you immune to Covid-19? All these questions can be answered simply by taking a Covid-19 neutralising antibody assay or serology test. The test can be done on a small sample of your blood.

For a small fee, a test can be sent to your home which includes a finger-prick lancet so you can do the sample in the comfort of your own home. Alternatively, you can come down to one of our branches and have a blood test done or a trained phlebotomist can come to your home and do the blood test there – If this is something you require please contact us to arrange this service.

This test will give you peace of mind as you can find out if that infection you had a few weeks ago was indeed Covid-19 or just flu. Worse yet, what if you had an infection but you were asymptomatic. This would be the only way to tell if you have had an infection in the past. Or if you’re vaccinated you can see if you have the level of immunity that is thought to be protective.
