The story of Michaela, Luis and their daughter Sole:
a dream through egg donation
“Having our daughter here is an indescribable feeling. Thanks to her I feel fulfilled and all the efforts and difficulties were worth it”
After 14 years of fighting infertility, Michaela and Luis, an Italian couple, tell us about their emotional journey towards fertility, which made them parents thanks to an egg donation treatment at the Tambre Clinic. Their daughter Sole, two and a half months old, is the beautiful result of a process full of obstacles, but also of hope.
From their home in Naples, they sent us a recording to introduce us to their daughter and share their experience. They didn’t want to leave out anything of what they experienced, because this experience made them parents, the dream they had been nurturing for years.
A long journey to motherhood
Michaela, 48 years old and of Polish origin, and Luis, 50 years old Italian, have undertaken a difficult journey in search of starting a family. After 14 years of sterility and numerous failed treatments in different countries, they decided to look for an alternative outside of Italy. «We had tried in vitro fertilization in Italy, three egg donations always in Italy and another in Greece, but none of them worked» says Michaela. In addition to infertility, Michaela had to deal with medical complications that made her attempts to become a mother even more difficult.
The meeting with Tambre
Guided by the recommendation of their gynecologist and the positive comments found on the internet, Michaela and Luis arrived at the Tambre clinic. «It was reading the opinions of other patients that gave us the confidence to choose Tambre. They conveyed to us a warmth and professionalism that we had never found before» they explain.

From the moment they set foot in the clinic, they knew they were in the right place. «It was what we expected. We realized we had made the right choice. The team was very knowledgeable and they were wonderful people» comments Luigi. Dr. Valentina de Miguel, the clinic’s medical director, guided their treatment, offering them support at every stage of the process.
A personalized approach: the key to success
Michaela’s medical history, characterized by hypothyroidism and endometriosis, required specialized treatment. Tambre referred them to the Immunology Unit, where Dr.Diego developed a specific treatment for their case. This personalized attention was key to the success of the process, and it is important to highlight that Clínica Tambre was a pioneer in this field, being the first clinic in Spain to establish an Immunology Unit specialized in assisted reproduction. “We felt that every detail of our story was listened to and treated with precision. We had lost confidence with previous experiences, but here we found it again,” they add.
This innovative approach and the use of the most advanced technology are some of the pillars that characterize Clínica Tambre. The team is not only dedicated to providing cutting-edge medical treatment, but also offers human and warm assistance, as demonstrated by their ease in communicating in Italian and supporting the couple in everything related to their trip to Spain.
Egg Donation
Following their doctor’s recommendation, Michaela and Luis opted for egg donation. This treatment, combined with a personalized approach and immunological support, was instrumental in Michaela’s pregnancy.
An unforgettable moment: the news of her pregnancy
After undergoing egg donation treatment with her partner’ssperm, Michaela received the news she had been waiting for: she was pregnant. “I couldn’t believe how happy I felt at that moment. It was an infinite joy,” she recalls emotionally. Luis, for his part, adds: “Seeing Michaela so happy was one of the most emotional moments of my life.”
Today, with Sole in her arms, Michaela feels fulfilled.”Having our daughter here is an indescribable feeling. Thanks to her, I feel complete and all the effort and difficulties have been rewarded,” says Michaela with a smile.

Cilena and Andrew made it, congratulations family!
Cilena and Andrew began trying for a child in 2017. After several attempts, they went to a specialist and discovered that they both suffered from pathologies that made pregnancy very difficult. Another aggravating factor was their age, so, in agreement with their gynecologist, they decided to undergo Assisted Reproduction treatment.
They started with a cycle of In Vitro Fertilization in Italy, through the public health system, but unfortunately the result was negative twice. It was then that their doctor presented them with the option that would probably finally make their dream come true: egg donation. At that moment, they asked themselves: should we consider treatment in Spain?
The beginning of their story in Madrid
Many patients hesitate at the idea of having to undergo Assisted Reproduction treatment abroad, as it is a new and unprecedented situation. But that wasn’t the case for Cilena and Andrew, who decided to start their journey with us. “It wasn’t difficult at all. The clinic is very qualified and prepared to provide information and assistance to those who are undertaking this type of journey for the first time,” they say. After their first visit, they felt so at ease that they said yes to the treatment suggested by their doctors, Maria Del Ray and Valentina de Miguel. The couple emphasizes the professionalism that the doctors convey and how easy it was to trust them throughout the treatment.
What was your first impression of Clinica Tambre?
“To be honest, we knew very little about fertility treatments. We never thought we would have to resort to this to have a child,” they confess. They are grateful that they have always received an answer to their questions. Likewise, the couple believes that the clinic is very cutting edge in terms of technology and techniques used and wanted to share their opinion on our Patient Care department: “Elisa Riquier, our coordinator, was very helpful and professional. All our doubts were dispelled by her precious collaboration,” they say.
The beautiful result of their journey
In the first cycle of an egg donation treatment, Cilena got pregnant! Now she and Andrew are parents to a beautiful baby boy named Luigi. When we asked them how they feel now, they responded with emotion “Now how do we feel?? We are so happy to have realized our dream of having brought a magnificent baby into the world that repays us every day for all the sacrifices made but above all completes us as a family. Holding him in our arms for the first time was an immense emotion.”
