The Human Papilloma virus is known to cause nearly 100% of cervical cancer in adult women. Our DNA report reveals the variant version of the infection. There are more than 300 variants and some are more aggressive (high risk) than others.

These known aggressive and high risk types are diagnosed with our lab’s PCR processes. HPV is a very common infection more than 50% of the population are infected as reported by health authorities

What are the 2 Types of HPV Test Reporting Options?

The Base option looks for 18 Strains: 16, 18, 31, 59, 66, 53, 33, 58, 45, 56, 52, 35, 68, 51, 39, 82, 26, and 73. The Report tells you positive and negative. And does not report individually on them.
The Upgrade Option looks for the 21 Strains. The Report tells your positive and negative for each individually: 16, 18, 31, 59, 66, 53, 33, 58, 45, 56, 52, 35, 68, 51, 39, 82, 26, 73, 6, 11, 81.

Your result can be negative if you have none of the above industry accepted higher risk types.

There are more than 300 strains. You might have one of those 300 strains but not one of the above 21 types of virus.

Re-run: The Best Confirmation HPV Procedure

We will run it 3-4 times where we need. There are many detailed scientific procedures that we are trained to consider to trigger a rerun. One Example for your understanding: in a batch, if they are all Negative we will rerun the whole batch.

However, normally there is 10-40% positive. As it’s unusual to have some patterns of results. We must be aware of them. HPV virus is tricky and nasty so we need to think actively for it.

Also for example if all are positive. And for example if 3 are positive next to each other. Furthermore, for example inconclusive samples. We always rerun them and if it’s inconclusive 2 x we will request another sample and usually send you a free kit to do that.

We dont accept inconclusive HPV results!

Other labs often issue inconclusive and it’s a waste of money for the customer and for us so we prefer to run it again. HPVG level customers we think are regular customers. People need to get retested and even 1 x per year.

And we want a regular customer. We don’t want to send an inconclusive report. Note that Even if a customer it’s positive for 1 of the 21 variants they can gain more variants over time.

Situations are increasingly occurring for customers to have 5 or even 7 different strains. It’s actually not unusual to have 2-3.

Treatment is super important in many cases. And treatment is costly in terms of a time commitment for people.

People need to know their status regularly.

And it’s ok to ask and we will do our best to give you the right answers and the right results.

Actually we changed the website terms to 1-7 working days. But 1 day is still an option if someone wants the jump the queue fee of £50. That fee covers the extra cost of running a sample either on its own or in a small batch.

Most of our competitors do not report as many of the high risk variants as we do. For example, Type 53 is one common and high risk variants. Yet we check for it. And most of the other labs do not. If you are positive for any type of HPV, especially a high risk type, you must do everything you can to help your immune system eradicate it from your body.

In the United Kingdom testing for more variants is expensive. Many competitors do not look for 21 or even 18 like we do. Most look for 2-12 types only.

The market prices for 18 or 21 variants are in the range £200-£300 for a 21 Variant result.

How long before I get my results?

We are advising 1-7 working days from when the Laboratory receives the registered sample return kit from Royal Mail.

There is also a while you wait service for an additional £50 for those that feel its urgent and they cant wait for a batch run process.

What is the Shipping and Returns Policy?

Firstly, we have a 14-day return policy, which means you have 14 days after receiving your item to request a return.

And to qualify for any Kit or Tub return, it must be in the same condition as when you received it. Also, it is not used, not opened, unworn, and in its original packaging. And you will also need to send it to us with the receipt or proof of purchase.

Technology Method:

In the kit’s positive and negative reference controls, the positive and negative coincidence rates were 100%.

Accuracy

The accuracy of our diagnostic PCR method is defined as the combination of sensitivity and specificity variables. The sensitivity is the test’s ability to confirm positive results; specificity eliminates negative results. Also, all our results are validated with high accuracy (up to 98.5%).

Variables

Accuracy can be affected by various factors that our lab cannot control. Viral intensity, patient immunity level, and sample quality, dependent on adherence to “home testing” procedures, can all limit the results. Although our PCR methods are extremely sensitive, a poor-quality swab makes it harder to detect the presence of the virus, as fewer viral particles will be present. So, please carefully consider the information sheet accompanying your sample collection kit to ensure a high-quality sample is taken.

Detection

The standard PCR detection method is designed to detect the presence of Human papillomavirus in the sample accurately. A positive result will distinguish between HPV-16 and HPV-18 and the others listed above. The standard process detects the presence of the listed types but is unable to provide specific types. And so it uses a Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) amplifying method to detect the presence of the pathogen.

The Premium Option detects and reports on the 21 types listed above.

Any diagnosis should be discussed with your GP. Any results from our diagnostics laboratory are intended to be viewed by a GP. However, this should be done with a patient’s history, lifestyle, and other factors that may influence HPV detection results, which should be shared with your GP when discussing any result.

Positive result

A positive result suggests the presence of particles in the sample during testing. So, upon receiving positive results, you should contact your GP for advice.

Negative result

Results should still be discussed with your GP.
