Ventolin

Salamol Easi-Breathe

Medical Information

Asthma is a medical condition that affects the airway. Common symptoms of asthma include wheezing, tightness of the chest and shortness of breath. The narrowing of airways causes these symptoms during an asthma attack.

Many people find that some triggers induce symptoms of asthma. It may be helpful to reduce asthma symptoms to avoid these triggers, such as:

  • Infections eg. colds, coughs
  • Pollens and moulds during hay fever season
  • Exercise (signs that you have to see your GP as your treatment may need to be stepped up)
  • Smoking

Treatment

People on asthma might be on a regular preventer inhaler (brown), in addition to their reliever inhaler (blue), depending on the control and severity of asthma.

Medicinesbymailbox is able to provide salbutamol inhaler (blue reliever) to those who are diagnosed with asthma and are already using a salbutamol inhaler.

There are different brand names of salbutamol inhaler but there are of the same strength. We provide:

There are slight differences in which they are administered, so you should select the type of inhaler that you are familiar with after consultation, either a 'metered dose inhaler‘ (MDI, an aerosol) or a 'dry powder inhaler' (DPI, also known as breath actuated inhaler). Good inhaler technique is important to gain maximum benefits out of the inhaler, if you are unsure, you should read the patient information leaflets supplied with the inhalers or look at demonstration videos.

You should visit the individual treatment page for specific product information before ordering.

Note: This service does not replace your GP services. You will still need to attend regular appointments with your GP for follow-up at least every year to determine your control of the condition.

Ordering online

We supply salbutamol inhalers only if patients:

  • Have used salbutamol inhalers before
  • Have had an asthma/breathing check with a doctor or nurse within past 12 months
  • Have no recent worsening in breathing symptoms

Our doctors usually allow only an average of one inhaler to be ordered per month. If you order more frequently you will need to provide extra information to our doctors. Full refunds are given if doctors decline a request for an inhaler. If you need to use your reliever inhaler very regularly, you are advised to see your GP as soon as possible. It may indicate that your asthma is not well controlled and you may need additional treatments from your GP.

If we cannot supply your inhaler, it does NOT mean you do not need one. Please visit your GP if you experience symptoms of asthma.

Aerosols cannot be posted outside the UK as they are restricted postal items. Please do not order if you are outside the UK.

At the end of the consultation you will need choose between the two types of inhaler and request the one you already use. You can request EITHER a ‘metered aerosol’ (Ventolin Evohaler) OR a ‘breath actuated' inhaler (Salamol Easi-Breathe).

  • 'Metered aerosols' (Ventolin Evohaler) inhalers release a puff of salbutamol when the end of the inhaler is pressed down.
  • 'Breath actuated' (Salamol Easi-Breathe) inhalers release a puff of salbutamol triggered by sucking the nozzle of the inhaler.
