Sodium cromoglicate product information

Sodium cromoglicate helps to reduce eye inflammations during hay fever and to relieve allergic symptoms such as redness, soreness and itching in the eyes.

Many manufacturers produce sodium cromoglicate eye drops and they may come in different brands. However, they are medically identical.

How to take

You should start using it 1 week before hay fever symptoms are expected to prevent symptoms from occurring. The usual dose for hay fever is 1 or 2 drops into each eye, 4 times daily. For specific directions on administration, refer to the patient information leaflet.
If your symptoms do not improve after 2 days, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.

You should also wear glasses instead of soft contact lenses while on this medicine. If you wear other types of contact lenses, wait at least 20-30 minutes after administration before putting them back in.

Side effects of Sodium cromoglicate

Like all medicines, Sodium cromoglicate might cause some side effects, although not everyone gets them.

The most common side effects associated are irritation of the eyes and blurred vision. Side effects are usually mild but if you are concerned, speak to a doctor or pharmacist. It is important that if you have temporary blurred vision that you avoid driving or operating machinery until your vision returns to normal.

For a full list of side effects, please refer to the patient information leaflet attached below.
