Telfast product information

Telfast belongs to a group of medicines called antihistamines. Our body produces a substance called histamine when allergy occurs and antihistamines help to stops the effect of histamine. This helps to relieve symptoms of allergies such as hay fever.

How to take

The usual dose for hay fever is to take one 120mg tablet per day before meal. The medicine should start to relieve your symptoms within 1 hour. If your symptoms do not improve after 3 days, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice.

Side effects of Telfast

Like all medicines, Telfast might cause some side effects, although not everyone gets them.

The side effects associated, although uncommon, are: feeling drowsy or sleepy, dizziness and headache. Side effects are usually mild but if you are concerned, speak to a doctor or pharmacist. It does not normally cause drowsiness but if you do, you should avoid driving or operating machinery. You should also not drink more than moderate amounts of alcohol as it may increase risk of dizziness.

If you experience severe allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, swelling of eyes, nose or face, or an itchy rash, you should stop using Telfast and seek urgent medical advice.

When ordering from Medicinesbymailbox, you may be required to fill in a series of Yes/No questionnaires to determine your suitability to the medication. You should NOT use Telfast without consulting a doctor if:
  • you are allergic to fexofenadine
  • you have severe liver, heart or kidney problems
  • you are an elderly
  • you are pregnant or breast feeding

If you are taking indigestion remedies that contain iron or magnesium, you should leave about 2 hours between taking Telfast and the remedies as they might affect absorption of Telfast.
