Scopoderm patches product information

Scopoderm contains an active ingredient called Hyoscine which is an anti-sickness medicine. It works by preventing the confusing messages that occur during travel sickness from travelling to your brain. This prevents or relieves the symptoms of travel sickness.

How to use

A patch should be applied 5-6 hours before your journey on a clean and dry area behind the ear. Wash your hands after applying the patches. The specific instruction regarding to its administration can be found in the patient information leaflet.

A patch lasts up to about 3 days and you can shower with them. If your journey lasts longer than 3 days, you can carefully dispose it and apply a new one.

Side effects of Scopoderm

Like all medicines, Scopoderm can cause some side effects, although not everyone gets them.

The most common side effects associated with the patches are: dryness of the mouth, drowsiness, dizziness and blurring of vision. These side effects are usually mild but if they trouble you, you should speak to a doctor or pharmacist for advice. It is also important that you avoid driving or operating machinery should dizziness occurs.

If you experience these uncommon but serious side effects, you should stop using Scopoderm and seek urgent medical advice:

  • Signs of allergic reaction: difficulty breathing, swelling of eyes, lips or face and severe itching of the skin
  • Changes in vision with increased pressure in the eye

The full list of side effects can be found on the patient information leaflet.
