Champix product information

Champix contains an active ingredient called varenicline. It helps to reduce and relieve cravings and withdrawal symptoms associated with stopping smoking. It can also help to reduce the enjoyment of smoking cigarettes if you do smoke on treatment.

A whole course of treatment usually lasts about 12 weeks.

How to take

CHAMPIX comes as a white tablet (0.5 mg) and a light blue tablet (1 mg).
You usually start with the white tablet and then go to the light blue tablet.
Typical dose to start taking Champix:
Day 1 - 3: one white CHAMPIX 0.5 mg film-coated tablet once a day.
Day 4 - 7: one white CHAMPIX 0.5 mg film-coated tablet twice daily.
Day 8 – 14: one light blue CHAMPIX 1 mg film-coated tablet twice daily
Day 15 - end of treatment: one light blue CHAMPIX 1 mg film-coated tablet twice daily.
After 12 weeks of treatment, if you have stopped smoking, you may need to take light blue CHAMPIX tablets twice daily for an additional period of time to prevent relapse.

There have been reports of Champix interacting with alcohol so it is best avoided while taking Champix.

If you feel that the dose is too strong for you, you should contact your doctor for dose adjustments.
